What Is TradeDay?
TradeDay is a Chicago-based futures prop trading firm founded in 2020 that has built a strong reputation for trader-friendly rules and fast payouts. They've become one of the more trusted names in the futures funding space.
What makes TradeDay stand out is the combination of Day 1 (next business day processing) payouts, no consistency rule when funded, and the choice of three drawdown models (Intraday Trailing, End-of-Day Trailing, and Static). Most firms force you into one drawdown type — TradeDay lets you pick the model that matches your trading style at the time of purchase.
The firm supports Tradovate, NinjaTrader, TradingView, and Jigsaw Trading as platforms. They also include 1-on-1 coaching as part of the evaluation, which is rare among prop firms and adds genuine educational value.
TradeDay Pricing & Account Selection
TradeDay offers account sizes at $50K, $100K, and $150K — each available in three drawdown variants. The cheapest entry point is the $50K Intraday Trailing at $175/mo (with discount code applied). Higher tiers scale accordingly.
The three drawdown types create meaningfully different risk profiles. Intraday Trailing is cheapest but strictest — your floor follows tick-by-tick. EOD Trailing costs more but only adjusts at session close, giving scalpers more room. Static Drawdown has tighter profit targets and fewer contracts but the floor never moves — ideal for conservative swing traders.
Reset fees are $79/$129/$180 depending on account size — competitive with the industry average. Check our TradeDay discount page for the latest verified promo codes.
TradeDay Drawdown Rules Explained
TradeDay has just ONE hard rule: don't break the Maximum Drawdown. Everything else (profit target, consistency, min days) are objectives — failing them doesn't end your eval, it just means you haven't passed yet.
Intraday Trailing: The drawdown floor follows your highest unrealized equity in real time. This is the strictest but cheapest option.
End-of-Day (EOD) Trailing: The floor only updates based on your end-of-day balance. CRITICAL: even though the limit only moves at day's end, you still cannot breach it intraday. If your equity touches the drawdown level with an open position, you're liquidated and the eval is over.
Static Drawdown: The floor is fixed at your starting balance minus the buffer. It never moves regardless of how high your equity goes. Tighter targets and fewer contracts, but the most predictable risk.
All trailing drawdowns freeze once they reach your starting balance — they stop trailing at that point, giving you permanent protection above that level.
Use the Drawdown Visualizer to simulate how each type behaves with your actual trading style.
TradeDay Payout Structure
Day 1 (next business day processing) payouts is TradeDay's headline feature — and it's real. Once you clear the buffer zone (starting balance + max drawdown), you can request a payout. Minimum payout is $250. Requests before 5:30 PM CT are processed the next business day.
Profit split is tiered: 80% (90% after $50K, 95% after $100K withdrawn). Important: withdrawals into the buffer zone (below the cleared drawdown level) are split differently.
Payment methods via Riseworks: US bank wire (free), international wire, and crypto. You must onboard with Riseworks after passing the evaluation. There is currently no activation fee ($0) — saving money compared to firms that charge one.
Warning: after your 3rd withdrawal on Funded Sim, TradeDay may move you to Funded Live. Only profits remaining in the account (not already withdrawn) transfer to the live account. Traders who make frequent large withdrawals that leave the account vulnerable to drawdown may not be invited back for another evaluation.
TradeDay Prohibited Practices — What to Watch
The 30% consistency rule applies during evaluation only: no single day's profit can exceed 30% of your profit target. If you exceed it, you don't fail — your target just increases. Once funded, there is no consistency rule at all.
Metals restriction (Feb 2026): Gold (GC), Silver (SI), Copper (HG), and Platinum (PL) full-size contracts are restricted on ALL accounts. Micro Gold (MGC) and Micro Silver (SIL) limited to 4 lots max. This is a temporary measure.
Scalping is allowed but ultra-short-term tick capturing (few seconds, couple of ticks) is prohibited. The 200 trade/day cap also limits very high-frequency approaches. Automated HFT and gaming sim fills are prohibited.
Trading times: must exit all positions 10 minutes before market close. Auto-liquidated at 3:50 PM CT. Tier 1 economic data releases trigger auto-liquidation 2 minutes before and markets reopen 2 minutes after.
Third-party bots and ATS are prohibited. Self-built algorithms are fine. On funded accounts, you cannot trade within 2% of the CME daily price limit. Order splitting is also prohibited.
Who Should Consider TradeDay?
TradeDay's sweet spot is traders who want fast payouts without funded consistency restrictions. If you've been frustrated by having profitable days penalized by consistency limits at other firms after getting funded, TradeDay eliminates that friction entirely.
The three drawdown options make it uniquely flexible. Scalpers can choose Intraday Trailing for the lowest cost, swing traders can pick Static for the safest floor, and momentum traders can opt for EOD Trailing as the best middle ground.
Be aware: the 30% consistency rule during evaluation means you can't just have one huge day and pass — you need to spread your profits. The 200 trade/day cap and scalping restrictions also matter if you trade very actively. For moderate scalpers, day traders, and swing traders, TradeDay is one of the most straightforward firms in the space.
